PSEG Long Island's program page itself states no expiration date, though we found one unconfirmed secondary claim of a December 31, 2026 end date — we print the program's own silence on an end date as the more reliable read, and note the disagreement rather than pick one.
Netting the rebate against the national average installed cost puts a typical homeowner at roughly $867 after the base rebate, or about $567 for a qualifying household — simple subtraction, not a new estimate, and both source figures keep their own sourcing.
The permit
The Town of Southampton charges a flat $100 per EV charging station, per its current fee schedule — about a tenth of the average install cost, and a small line item next to the electrical work itself. The Town's own permit application has a dedicated field for the number of chargers being installed, confirming a home charger runs through the ordinary licensed-electrician permit process rather than a separate track. (PSEG Long Island's business-scale EV Make-Ready and Business First programs, worth up to $125,000 and $45,000 per charging port respectively, are commercial programs and do not apply to a single-family home.)
